Common in the airway management of the intubated patient is the use of an oral airway. Oral airways prevent biting of the endotracheal tube however they do not protect the pilot balloon and may actually increase the incidence of rupture. Biting of the endotracheal tube is a prevalent occurrence for intubated patients. The B&B Universal Bite Block – Pediatric is the most complete system to prevent biting of the endotracheal tube and potential rupture of the pilot balloon tube. The Universal Bite Block™ application protects the pilot balloon tube and prevents the patient from biting the endotracheal tube. The Universal Bite Block allows for delivery of proper oral hygiene by providing unobstructed bilateral access to the oral cavity. They can also be used for protection of closed suction catheters, endoscopes, E-wall tubes, Bronchoscopes and oral gastric tubes. All B&B Bite Blocks are made of Latex Free material.

The Universal Bite Block reduces costs associated with re-intubation. Part Number 11170 fits 4 to 6 mm endotracheal tubes. The Universal Bite Block assures around the tube protection from biting of the endotracheal tube for long term intubations.

The Universal Bite Block – Pediatric is recommended to be used with the entire line of B&B Medical Technologies pre-cut endotracheal tube holders and other products and adhesive tapes used to secure and support the artificial airway. When utilized with the StabilTube™, Lock-Tite™ and ET Tapes, the Universal Bite Block provides the fastest and most secure system for securing and stabilizing the artificial airway. The Cable Tie technology provides positive attachment to the endotracheal tube and does not require an adhesive tape for stability.
